Small Business Awards 2026

This week, I am launching the inaugural Mid Derbyshire Small Business Awards 2026, with nominations open until Monday 9th November 2026 at 9am!

There are countless businesses, entrepreneurs, and not for profit organisations that are doing fantastic work across the constituency. They create jobs, drive innovation, and drive footfall into our highstreets.

I have seen the passion and determination they have for their business to succeed and to their communities by creating local jobs, training local people, and supporting local initiatives.

That’s why I am hosting an awards ceremony coinciding with this year’s Small Business Saturday to showcase Mid Derbyshire’s outstanding businesses, and celebrate the people behind them for the contributions they make every day.

I want residents to play a key role in this, highlighting any local success stories through the nomination process.

Whether it is a pioneering new business, a dedicated young entrepreneur, a company leading the way on sustainability, I want these awards to shine a spotlight on the very best our area has to offer.

The categories up for awards are:

• Small business of the year
• Independent retailer of the year
• Hospitality business of the year
• Young entrepreneur of the year
• And for a bit of fun, the best workplace pet award
