Jonathan Davies MP with his youth survey.

Welcome to the summer 2026 edition of my newsletter.

Since I last wrote to you, I am pleased that we have seen progress on a number of issues which I have been supporting residents on. This includes the demolition of the old Ada Belfield site in Belper, which I am particularly glad to see a resolution on as I have been supporting residents with since I was elected in July 2024.

I have also been working on some bigger picture issues that residents have raised with me. This summer has been noticeably drier and hotter, with wildfires blazing across the UK and Europe. It has been estimated that there have been over 16,000 excess deaths caused by the rising temperatures. The impact of climate change is becoming visible, with extremely hot and dry summers becoming normal since 2020.

I know that residents are worried about this, especially those who like me have seen the People’s Emergency Briefing – click here to find a screening. I have been raising with the government the importance of continuing our drive for sustainability, especially in light of the government’s national security assessment on the effects of climate change.

You can read more in my newsletter here.

If there is anything you think that I will be able to provide assistance with, please do not hesitate to contact me. You can email me at jonathan.davies.mp@parliament.uk.

Yours sincerely,

Jonathan
