Jonathan Davies MP on the picket line for St Elizabeth Primary School.

Welcome to the early summer 2026 edition of my newsletter.

This month, I have spent more time in Mid Derbyshire as Parliament has been in recess. I’ve used this time to meet with residents, professionals, and organisations about a range of issues.

Many people are concerned about the planned staff redundancies at St Elizabeth’s school by the St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust. I have been meeting with staff, unions, the former CEO of the trust (who has now resigned), and my MP colleagues which have schools in similar situations. You can read more about this below.

I had an interesting meeting with the Light Rail Transit Association, which has garnered publicity recently over their Derby tram proposals. I hope that a feasibility study into this can be considered. Trams bring a lot of benefits to communities when they are installed – and we have a good example of how it could work next door in Nottingham. In Mid Derbyshire, residents in Allestree might find the tram of particular use as it would remove traffic off roads, which is vital for rush hour. It could also connect Oakwood and Spondon to the city, and potentially with Nottingham.

These are a couple of meetings of note, but I have been up to a lot more – please read my newsletter here.

If there is anything you think that I will be able to provide assistance with, please do not hesitate to contact me. You can email me at jonathan.davies.mp@parliament.uk.

Yours sincerely,

Jonathan
