Welcome to my final newsletter of 2025.

I want to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a happy new year.

This year has gone by so quickly, and much has happened.

It has been an absolute privilege to represent Mid Derbyshire residents both in the constituency and in Westminster.

While the main role of an MP is passing and scrutinising legislation, there is so much more that you can do.

Often, MPs are the last port of call for residents who have nowhere else to turn when the system fails. A large part of my job is to help residents who have become homeless, children who have fallen out of the education system because of the systemic crisis in special educational needs and disabilities in Derbyshire, domestic abuse survivors, and victims of crime.

But there is also a place for collaboration.

I set up and chair the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Unesco World Heritage Sites. This is a cross-party group that is seeking to put our heritage firmly on the agenda for national renewal. The UK is a sleeping giant of cultural and economic potential, and we need to awaken it.

As chairman of the Unesco APPG, I had the honour to lead Unesco’s 80th anniversary debate. It was an opportunity to argue exactly that, and I was joined by MPs from across all parties. You can find out more about this debate below.

I’m excited about the year ahead, and I hope you are too.

Yours sincerely,

Jonathan
