Jonathan is a long-time Derbyshire resident who brings a wealth of experience from both education and healthcare regulation. He began his career as a music teacher before moving into roles focused on safeguarding and public wellbeing. Before entering parliament, he served as a councillor in Chesterfield. He is passionate about championing access to music and arts education.

In Westiminister, he serves on the Ecclesiastical Committe, the Court of Referees, and the Backbench Business Committee. He is vice-chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for East Midlands and the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Republic of Korea.
