The Derwent Valley Cycleway recently celebrated getting planning approval for a stretch of cycleway from Milford to north of Belper.
I was pleased to attend, and came away with a real appreciation of how complicated a process it was to navigate the planning application through all the requirements of biodiversity, woodland, river banks, the World Heritage Site and multiple landowners!
The trustees and volunteers have shown great dedication and commitment to see it through. Their ambition is for a cycleway from Derby to Chatsworth, which will be a massive asset when it’s finally completed.
