William Gilbert Primary School in Duffield is doing amazing things to encourage families to walk, wheel or cycle to school.
With the head teacher Helen Britten, I met their Active Travel Ambassadors and was very impressed with the enthusiasm and commitment of these young people. They are keen to make active travel fun, so people who scoot to school can take part in scooter slaloms in the breaks.
These kinds of ideas have led to the school being one of only 75 in England that are rated Outstanding by Modeshift, and are able to show real evidence that their initiatives are changing how people travel to and from school.
