It was valuable to engage with local businesses at a recent stakeholder meeting hosted at Bouquet Wine by Marketing Derby.
While there, I met with leaders from Denby Pottery to discuss the ongoing situation at their business. Many residents have contacted me with their concerns with the pottery going into administration.
Denby is currently looking to secure long-term investment from a private buyer to keep operating. Additionally, it needs energy support from the government, which I am working alongside Linsey Farnsworth MP to secure.
She is currently running a petition that calls on the government to include ceramics industry in the British Industry Supercharger Scheme which reduces the costs for certain high energy intensity sectors. Ceramics industries are vital employers in the Midlands with long histories in the region. We need to include them in this scheme, as lowering energy costs will make it more viable for investors and keep the industry commercially viable into the future.
