I was really pleased to be invited to the opening ceremony of Belper Pharmacy and Health Clinic last Friday, now under Ascent Pharmacy ownership.
The reopening follows the pharmacy’s closure by Jhoots last year, after weeks of issues with lack of stock and staffing problems. Ascent Pharmacy is a Derby-based company and has another pharmacy operating in Mid Derbyshire at Duffield. They are part of the Pharmacy First scheme which means not only do they provide prescription dispensing, but they also give advice and treatment and blood pressure checks. This will take some pressure off Riversdale Surgery and other local pharmacies, ensuring residents get the care they need.
I will continue to support the community in having a pharmacy at this location as it is greatly valued by the community, and vital for improving health care access.
