As Ed Miliband says, the Labour government loves what Vaillant is doing. I was pleased to welcome Climate Minister, Katie White MP, to Vaillant’s Belper factory for a tour and a meeting about what they are doing and how they feel about the flagship £15 billion Warm Homes Plan.
We were shown around Vaillant’s factories where they are making cutting-edge heat pumps. Labour is supporting creating demand through making available £7,500 grants and low and no cost loans when you install heat pumps. This will help thousands of people cut energy bills and tackle the cost of living crisis.
We met with some of Vaillant’s apprentices, and they were very excited about the opportunity – especially learning on the job. It was great to see how happy they were with their apprenticeship as not everyone learns in the same way – some learning best with a hands-on approach.
In my youth survey, a lot of young people told me that they didn’t know what opportunities were near them. It was a great opportunity to raise how important industry and apprenticeships are to the minister, and how we can build knowledge of these opportunities to our local young people.
