Social media under 16s consultation

I am running a local consultation to find out how Mid Derbyshire residents feel about social media usage for under 16-year-olds.

Would you delay buying your child a smartphone if they were not allowed to bring smartphones into school?
Would you prefer that your child's school had a policy where only basic (brick) phones, which allow only texts and calls (no internet access, no camera) were allowed to be brought on site by children?
I am concerned about the effects that social media is having on children and young people.
I am concerned that safeguards do not currently protect children and young people adequately enough online.
I worry that young people are addicted to social media.
I am concerned that this addiction can lead to lack of sleep, inability to focus, or poor mental health which will impact young people's education and home life.
How do you think the government should take action on social media?
If social media was banned for children under 16, or other action was taken to limit access, are you worried that young people may lose out on access to positive aspects of social media?

Any data submitted will not be used for any purposes other than analysing the sentiment of Mid Derbyshire’s residents on this issue.
