Last week I met with National Highways and the other Derby MPs to discuss the A38 Junction Improvement Scheme.
It was an opportunity to raise the concerns that residents have contacted me about. These include levels of disruption caused by the works, mitigating the environmental impacts of the scheme, improving pedestrian and cycle access, and the protection of trees in Markeaton Park.
In fact, I was reassured by National Highways that no trees in Markeaton Park will be cut down to make way for the A38 expansion. This is a really positive outcome, and I will make sure they keep their word.
I will continue to work with the A38 project delivery team to represent resident concerns and ensure the benefits of the scheme can be realised in a way that maintains the environmental integrity of the area.
