I was really pleased to facilitate a meeting between Dr Ian Jackson and Emma Hardy MP, the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Water and Flooding, to discuss the opportunities that hydro provides on the Derwent and across the country.
This follows a meeting with Ian Jackson last year in Belper to discuss how a number of hydroelectric schemes already operate on the Derwent, including at the Belper Mills site.
Hydroelectricity is an important tool to help us reach to net-zero, become energy independent, and help us slash our energy bills. It is a stable energy supplier that will help diversify our energy sources away from the rollercoaster of the international fossil fuel market.
