Jonathan Davies MP Serving the people of Mid Derbyshire
I doubt anyone will forget the events of early 2020, when most of the world went into lockdown in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
For some people, life has not returned to normal since that time. This includes around two million people in the UK who are suspected to suffer from long covid. These people suffer from extreme tiredness, shortness of breath, memory problems, heart palpitations and joint pain. This can be totally dehabilitating for those most seriously affected.
I have done a lot of work to support sufferers of long covid, including using parliamentary questions to raise the effect the condition has on people. There is also ongoing pioneering research at the University of Derby into long covid, which I have asked the government to support more fully.
It was good to discuss this further with the Derby Long Covid Support Group. Its members can count on my support to advocate for their needs and raise the profile of this little understood condition.
