This building has been privately owned for a number of years, after it closed as a care home once the new service opened on Derwent Street near Morrisons.

The old site has sat derelict since that time. It is now a total eyesore and a magnet for anti-social behaviour. I have spent considerable time engaging with the local council, the police, and the fire service to encourage the owners to take responsibility for this appalling site.

It would make excellent housing, which would be a much improved situation for its neighbours. I continue to call on the owners of the site to fulfil their obligations to secure it, improve its visual amenity, and table a planning application for its future.
