With Josh Newbury MP, who chairs the Energy Studies All-Party Parliamentary Group, I met with Belper-based heating manufacturer Vaillant UK to discuss the Labour government’s forthcoming Warm Homes Plan.
Vaillant is an important local employer, leading the heat pump market and training people to install them.
Air source heat pumps, powered by electricity, are an important part of the solution for transitioning away from gas for heating and hot water.
Developing and increasing the uptake of heat pumps is essential for the country’s net-zero ambitions, as well as delivering energy security and cheaper bills.
