The weather was much better for the third day of my big walk across Mid Derbyshire, which was good as it was a busy day filled with lots of walking and meetings. I started in The Settlement, seeing the Moravian Church in Ockbrook before crossing the fields through to Spondon’s Bluebell Dairy.
I spoke with Rosemary, Geoff, and Oliver, the third generation of the Brown family running the farm, about a range of topics. I have written to the Department for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs, and am looking into ways that I can support their business.
I travelled to Chaddesden Wood where I met with Heather, who is a volunteer from the Friends of Chaddesden Wood. I enjoyed the beautiful ancient woodland, before seeing the historic Breadsall railway station that closed down in 1968.
Finally, I finished the day in Little Eaton going to Bouquet Wine Cellar – a fantastic bar with a wide variety of wine on offer that isn’t sold anywhere else. I then met with representatives from the Campaign for Real Ale at Shiny Brewery, discussing a wide range of issues affecting the pub industry.
