Jonathan Davies MP Serving the people of Mid Derbyshire
After my visit to Kedleston Hall, I hosted a meeting I had set up with Quarndon Neighbourhood Watch, the Parish Council, Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner Nicolle Ndiweni-Roberts, and Derbyshire Police.
Since the start of the year, there has been a series of burglaries in the village, and I have spent considerable time working with the community to make sure your voices are heard and justice is delivered.
The police reassured us that five people had recently been arrested as part of an investigation across county lines, and that they were asking the Crown Prosecution Service to carry out more charges.
Their success came because residents continued to report the crimes, and there was a trail of evidence that helped the police track the perpetrators down across the country. The police carefully monitor for evidence, using SmartWater to collect samples, keeping an eye on trends on social media, and attending car boot sales to find stolen goods.
The best way to defend yourself against burglaries is to use air tags when possible, install motion detected CCTV to deter threats on your home, and put in parking posts to protect your vehicles. Additionally, please look into property marking schemes so that the police can easily identify your property if it has been found.
