I co-hosted a Bus Services Roundtable with Linsey Farnsworth, MP for Amber Valley, and welcomed bus operators from across the region, including Arriva, Stagecoach, trentbartonland, and TMTravel to speak with Derby and Derbyshire MPs and representatives from the East Midlands Combined County Authority.
The government’s Bus Services Bill will give local leaders the power to direct resources for new routes and better services to communities who are most in need. Operators and local leaders committed to working together to ensure this is delivered in ways that most benefit residents of Derbyshire.
We also discussed a range of ways in which bus services could be improved and how elected representatives and local operators could work together to deliver these improvements.
This included improving the accessibility and accuracy of information at bus stops, consulting residents about potential new routes, simplifying ticketing, and helping to provide the infrastructure necessary for the conversion to electric buses.
