Whenever I am invited to visit local industry in Mid Derbyshire, it is really rewarding. We have many local businesses doing powerful and innovative work.
In my recent visit to DS Smith, I was shown how they manufacture the packaging that transports the everyday essentials we see in our shops and the goods delivered to our homes.
They explained to me how they are looking to take on young people through their apprenticeship schemes. Apprenticeships give young people more control over their own life paths and equip them with key skills. They also provide a different and more hands-on way of learning.
I’m very proud that across the constituency we have employers providing young people with opportunities for the future through high-quality training and jobs.
