South Korea is one of our most important allies in the Indo-Pacific, and I am pleased that I can support our country’s relationships in my role as Vice Chair of the Republic of Korea All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG).

All-Party Parliamentary Groups give MPs the opportunity to work cross-party on important issues, ensuring that parliamentarians engage with each other and key stakeholders when legislating.

I spoke with the South Korean ambassador and other members of the APPG about how a new trade arrangement may be on the horizon, which would deepen our economic cooperation and ensure that we can stand stronger together against shared security threats.

We have historic links with South Korea, and the Korean War Memorial cast in stone in the vicinity of Parliament is a testament to the deep military bond our countries share. It has never been more important that we build on our past to serve the present and strengthen our international ties.
